About the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The 2026 Silverado 1500 is Chevrolet's full-size, light-duty pickup, sold here at Outten Chevrolet across nine trims, three cab styles (Regular, Double, and Crew), and three bed lengths (5-foot-8, 6-foot-7, and the 8-foot long bed). Pricing opens at $36,900 MSRP for the work-ready WT, and as you move up through the nine-trim lineup it climbs to a top of $71,800 for the trail-tuned ZR2. That spread is why one Silverado can be a stripped-down job-site truck and another a leather-lined daily driver for the commute into Reading.

Four engines anchor the range: the 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder (310 hp, 430 lb-ft), the 5.3L V8 (355 hp, 383 lb-ft), the 6.2L V8 (420 hp, 460 lb-ft), and the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel inline-six (305 hp, 495 lb-ft). For 2026 the off-road ZR2 now includes the Technology Package as standard, adding a 15-inch head-up display and a rear camera mirror, and the Multi-Flex Tailgate is standard on it as well. This is also the final model year of the current generation, with a redesigned Silverado expected for 2027, worth knowing if you are cross-shopping a leftover against next year's truck.

Engine and Powertrain Options

The 2.7L TurboMax is the standard engine on the work and mid-grade trims and pairs with an eight-speed automatic; Chevrolet rates it for class-leading standard torque at 430 lb-ft. The 5.3L and 6.2L V8s and the 3.0L Duramax diesel all run a ten-speed automatic. Most trims can be ordered with more than one engine, so the powertrain is a choice rather than a fixed feature: the 5.3L V8 is available across the Double and Crew Cab range, the Duramax diesel is available from the LT up through High Country, and the 6.2L V8 is the muscle option on RST, the Trail Boss trims, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2 (4x4 on LTZ and High Country). Chevrolet calls the Duramax the only diesel in the class.

Towing, Payload, and Bed

Properly equipped, the Silverado 1500 tows up to 13,300 lbs (conventional, with the 3.0L Duramax diesel, the Max Trailering Package, and 20-inch wheels on a Double Cab Standard Bed 2WD); the 6.2L V8 follows at 13,200 lbs, the 5.3L V8 at 11,400 lbs, and the 2.7L TurboMax at 9,500 lbs. Maximum payload is 2,260 lbs, and the cargo bed carries up to 89.1 cu ft with the 8-foot long bed, which Chevrolet markets as class-leading. Twelve standard tie-downs rated at 500 lbs each and the available Multi-Flex Tailgate make loading easier. The diesel also returns up to 28 MPG highway by Chevrolet's estimate, which matters on long grades and through a Pennsylvania winter when a loaded trailer and a slick ramp test both the engine and your nerves.
